ZONING is GREEN

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Zoning is a huge part of the GREEN Revolution in HVAC.  Studies show HVAC Zone Damper Systems can save 20%, or even more depending on how many zones and setbacks per day.  The combination of setback thermostats and zone dampers only heating or cooling thise zones that need it, can save substantially over single zone systems.  For those who continue to use separate HVAC units, this is NOT GREEN.  Just look at doubling the expdended energy, materials, transportation in making that second unit.  Plus the initial cost and added connected load to the utility.  Zoning with dampers is GREEN in so many ways over single systems and when it comes to dual systems, zone damper systems are the only way to go.  Granted some homes and building are large enough to require an extra unit when the load exceeds 5 Tons, however then each unit should be zoned.

Selling Zoning

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

In order to SELL IT, you have to FIRST TELL IT!  How does someone know about zoning unless you first tell them what it is and what it will do.  Don’t get bogged down thinking about price, sell the SIZZLE, not the steak.  Zoning is needed because you’ll be more comfortable in every room, not just where the thermostat is.  When it comes to talking about price, tell that zoning will pay back for itself in energy savings and with energy prices continuing to climb, you can’t afford not to zone now.  Home Buyer Surveys have shown that over 60% of those offered zoning will buy it.  You’ll never know unless you start offering it.  You make not make it on your first, second or third sale and if you don’t let us know the objections you’re running into.  But after several times once you get the first sale, just keep repeating what you’re doing and within 2-3 months after offering it on every job, you’ll see your own payback.  Offer Zoning First and see how this opens up opportunities to sell up.
